Road Trip Bag of Tricks
As we were preparing to spend 52 hours in the car last month I knew our biggest challenge would be keeping the kids happy while they were strapped down in their car seats that long. We never once pulled out a screen of any kind for the kids. No movies. No shows. No digital games. Just the way we did it when we were kids. Keep reading

Fool-proof way to pack for a trip
Categories: Featured, How To, Life, Random, With the Kiddos
My problem was how to pack the kids’ clothes. Because their clothes have a lot less mass and volume there is greater chance of them getting all mixed up and jumbled if left loose. And the internet’s suggestion to put each outfit for each kid for each day in a ziplock bag was going to be way too many bags for me. So I figured out something better and cheaper. And as a bonus, it worked out that without having to ask, Brett knew what each kid was supposed to wear each day too. Keep reading
Laundry Day
Categories: Happy Things, Life
So on days like today when it’s in the 90s (thankfully not the 100s, yet) and there’s a good wind blowing, it’s nice to have a line up for laundry day. Our sheets will be heavenly to fall asleep on. And they make for a great treat to play with for the toddler. Her laughs and smiles add an extra level of freshness to our laundry. Keep reading
Tomorrow your life will change

Last night I was thinking about how it was ten years ago today that Brett and I met face-to-face for the first time and went on our first date. I was wondering what I’d been doing the night before our date and if I really had any idea how much the next day would change my life. And then I realized that wasn’t quite true. That first date didn’t drastically change my life. As I thought about how not-life-changing that date was I realized there haven’t really been any huge life-changing events in our relationship where everything suddenly changed. Not even getting married. Keep reading
I was not afraid

Iddo waits anxiously every garbage day for the recycling truck to come. The driver of the recycling truck is great at noticing us out there waiting for him and he honks and has the truck wave at us. Iddo is at once terrified and excited by the big, loud truck. Keep reading
Long time coming

I love my long hair. But with a toddler who likes to play with it (i.e. tangle it) when it is down, and having to bend down a lot for the babies, it’s been easiest to keep it up in a bun all day, every day. I really don’t think most people realize how long my hair is. Make that was. Keep reading
Adventure bags
Categories: Life
My old backpack is still usable. I had a lot of academic (and other) adventures with it. It saw me through the bulk of my bachelor’s degree and both of my graduate degrees. But now I’m having adventures of a different sort and found myself needing more than just the basic three pockets that one had. Keep reading
