My first memories of the show M*A*S*H were standing in the dark hallway when I was supposed to be in bed at just such an angle so that I could see the TV but couldn’t see my parents (because that meant they couldn’t see me and didn’t know I was there). I’ve been watching reruns for forever. I think it’s brilliant how they were able to deal with such tough topics and also be so funny, sometimes at the same time even.
Brett has somehow managed to never see a single episode of it, something he’s held as a badge of honor. But the older we get, the more people there are that can say the same thing, so it isn’t quite as shiny of a badge any more.
Yesterday a box arrived in the mail, and since Brett has been ordering HUGE lexicons I figured it was just another one of those. Then he opened it and put something next to me and said “Happy Friday.” And what a Friday it was! He bought me the complete boxed set of M*A*S*H! He even used a 40% off coupon to do it!
And last night he watched his very first episode of M*A*S*H. The streak is broken. I really hope he thinks it’s worth it. I do.
We’ll find out if it’s worth it. But I do hate to see a 40% off coupon go to waste. :brett:
All right, which house was this at??
Well there goes my theory that you knew everything I thought you didn’t. 😉
Can’t say exactly. I remember doing it several different times. I watched a lot of Dallas that way too.
Thanks for stopping by my blog! I’ve loved reading some of your posts, and that you’re keeping track of the miles that you run.
I also loved watching M*A*S*H; my best friend’s mom watched it on TV twice a day, 6:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. We usually watched it with her, she was a cool mom who let us stay up that late on school nights. Not that my mom wasn’t cool, just in a “no late nights” policy way.
I’m off to look at your book log. I’m always looking for another good book to read!
Hee! I did that exact same thing! I used to hide in the hallway and watch MASH long after my parents thought I was asleep.
