Proposal for a new word

I make no secret of the fact that I am disappointed with the English language and often feel restricted with it’s limited vocabulary. There just aren’t enough words to describe all the thoughts and feelings I have.

Today, while discussing a certain situation with a friend, I said that the situation made me feel “disappreciated.” And then I realized that isn’t the correct term. Most people would say “unappreciated” or even “under appreciated.” But we agreed that “disappreciated” would probably be more appropriate. It seems to imply more action on the part of the other person. It also implies that they did appreciate you at some point, and now they don’t any more. You could say that someone who loses their job as a result of restructuring/budget cuts/layoffs, or whatever the term is these days, was disappreciated by the company.

So today I was not unappreciated by certain people/organizations. Rather, I was disappreciated.

At least I know there are plenty of other people in the same place who really do appreciate me and consider me irreplaceable.

Yay! It even follows the rules of word creation! I pronounce it legal.
