On Saturday Neil Armstrong passed away. The first man to set foot on the moon is now on a whole new adventure. A private memorial service was held for him today.
From a statement from the family last week:
For those who may ask what they can do to honor Neil, we have a simple request. Honor his example of service, accomplishment and modesty, and the next time you walk outside on a clear night and see the moon smiling down at you, think of Neil Armstrong and give him a wink.
Tonight is a full moon, a blue moon at that (only once in a blue moon does man step off this planet and on to another one). When it rises over the football field where we’ll be working our first game of the season, I’ll look up and wink.
Thank you for all the dreams Neil Armstrong. Godspeed on your new adventure.
Here’s a panoramic view of the Apollo 11 landing site and a much more detailed picture of the blue moon last week.
Whoa. Is that you??? Weightless????? Tell me more!
It’s a green screen photo manipulation I had done when I was at Johnson Space Center back when we first met.
Although I’d jump at a chance to be weightless in the vomit comet at the very least, if not a rocket ship. :star:
Neil Armstrong was a great man and a great example. :star:
