On the last page, after the last words of the story, you will often see the words “The End.” This morning (last night) I went to the last Harry Potter movie. But I agree with the cast last week at the premiere in London, this is not the end.
Side note – I love the dress Rowling is wearing. The print on the fabric being accented by the flower at her shoulder and waist. Lovely.
Characters and stories like that never end. They live on in those who have read them. They live on in those who will read them. The magic of Harry Potter is not the wands and spells, but the magic that exists in every good book. As Sirius says at the end of the third movie:
But know this; the ones that love us never really leave us. And you can always find them in [your heart].
This is a great article that came out yesterday too about it – Read this before you see the final Harry Potter movie. They really are magical.
I did two midnight Harry Potter book release parties.
And this was my fifth midnight Harry Potter movie.
I absolutely loved the movie. I did not feel sad when it ended. Instead, as I drove home in the bright moon light which always makes the world seem a bit more magical, I felt satisfied, fulfilled. It’s been a wonderful ride.
But Harry Potter is not over for me. I’ve still got to read them in Latin!
Edit:
A great thank you message from a mom.
It’s not over for me either. I hear “Harry Potter: Deep Space Nine” is on its way. :brett:
Love it, Brett!
You forgot, HARRY POTTER, THE NEXT GENERATION 😀
Just clicked on your photo from Book #7 to see it enlarged (wanted a better peak at the witch). It took me to your chapter log! Fun! When Katie read the book she wrote comments in the side of the margin. The one I remember was “Threw the book across the room here!” When her grandparents read the book, they enjoyed reading Katie’s comments almost as much as the book.
That is one thing I really love about paper books that e-readers just can’t touch – that shared experience of a shared book.
Darling pictures. I enjoy Harry Potter but I am not in to it as much as you are. I think it is fun how you dress up for the movies and your costumes are so good.
Wish I could have gone to this midnight showing with you! Glad that I’ve been with you on at least two other midnight occasions. 🙂
