Independence

Independence comes in many forms. We gain independence when we learn to walk, when we get a driver’s license, when we earn money, when we learn new skills and information. Gaining independence is a continual process. Independence can also gradually be lost through debt, addiction, and many other small means. This is true of nations just as much as it is of individuals.

As we celebrate the start of our nation’s independence today, I pray we will continue to fight for our independence rather than give it away to the lowest bidder.
