The Prime Time Emmy nominations came out last week. I apparently don’t watch good television. I went through the whole list and this was what I’ve seen:
- Commercial – The Man Your Man Could Smell Like
- Picture Editing of a Reality Program – Extreme Home Make-Over with the Muppets
- Outstanding Lighting of a Variety Show – Vancouver 2010 Olympics
- Outstanding Make-Up – Grey’s Anatomy (for both non-prosthetic and prosthetic)
- Music Composition for a Series – 24
- Music Direction – Vancouver 2010 Olympics
- Lead Actor in a Drama – House
- Guest Actor in a Drama – 24 (Gregory Itzin was THE weeny in that show, played it perfectly)
- Special Class Programs – Vancouver 2010 Olympics
- Sound Editing for a Series – 24
- Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama (one hour) – House and 24
- Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama (half hour) – The Office
- Stunt Coordination – Chuck (YEA!!!!), House, 24
- Writing for a Comedy Series – The Office
I know The Office was nominated in more categories, but the episode nominated for those two awards is the only one I could honestly say I’ve watched.
It would appear I don’t watch enough cable television or reality shows. But I think I’m okay with that. Only one of the categories I’ve seen something in was one of the “big” ones for the announcements. I’m betting most of these categories won’t make it to the on-air show portion. I’ll just have to remember to check the next day to see if anything I watch actually won.
The rabbit ears on our TV seem to be a little droopy.
Here’s the ones I’ve seen that actually won:
Commercial – The Man Your Man Could Smell Like
Make-Up (non-prosthetic) – Grey’s Anatomy
Lighting Direction – Vancouver 2010 Olympics
Music Direction – Vancouver 2010 Olympics
Music Composition for a Series – 24
Sound Editing for a Series – 24
That settles it (as if it were in doubt before) – the masses don’t know good TV. :p
