I love this photo. It appeals to me on so many levels. One level being that it is a photo of Brett. And I like pictures of him.
The sign is actually in reference to riding on California Screamin’ because on one curve they take your picture in the hopes that you’ll buy it. But he thought it would be great to take a photo of him screaming with the sign. In the photo they took of us on the ride, he’s doing a pretty good job of smiling. I’m trying real hard not to swear. My smile could be better.
But thinking about this picture a bit more, I’ve been waxing a big philosophical about it. Specifically about the sign.
Smile when you scream!
It doesn’t say not to scream. Just to smile while you do it. And why would you do that? Because people will notice.
We all have times in our lives when really, we just want to scream. We’ll get through whatever it is and we’ll survive, but during it, all we really want to do is scream. So go ahead and scream.
But…
Try and find a way to smile while you are screaming. None of us are going through whatever we’re screaming at alone. There are people either there with us or standing to the side watching. So smile. It makes the ride more enjoyable for you and those watching.
Or at the very least, laugh at yourself when you get off the ride, and be glad you didn’t actually swear.
I love roller coasters rides, and I am trying to be better about smiling during my own personal roller coaster rides! Thanks for the reminder to smile.
