It’s Earth Day! I like Earth. No matter how many worlds they discover, this world will always hold a special place in my heart.
It’s also the day Europeans discovered Brasil, which is a spot on Earth that holds an even special-er place in my heart than the world as a whole.
It was around this time every year that Mt. Mahogany had it’s recycling contest, seeing which class/team could bring in more paper products to recycle. My team always had a real good showing, winning it all one year. I’ve been a paper recycling fiend ever since. There is a cereal box or paper sack near my front door that all paper goes in (especially insane amounts of junk mail), and when it’s full I take it to the collection areas.
Earth is so pretty! There are so many beautiful wonders. I think part of why God rested on the seventh day was to simply take in the beauty of it all.
And it is all beauty. The beaches, mountains, plains, deserts, all of it is extremely beautiful in it’s own uniquely beautiful way.
I’m so glad I’ve seen so much of the beauty. I can’t wait to see more of this home we call Earth. And if I’m lucky, get some more pretty pictures.
As a bonus – here’s pictures of my garden, version 2009:
Pansies
Patio garden – lettuce (that isn’t doing too well right now, these are when they first popped through the ground) and a patio tomato plant.
Herb garden on the bookshelves in front of my window – oregano, mint, thyme, chives, cilantro, and lavender. (The chives and cilantro have recently been cut and used, that’s why they look a little scrawny).
Those pansies are just beautiful! I really hope I can get some in the ground soon. 🙂
