I did it. I wrote my comprehensive exams. The three papers ended up being a total of 38 pages all together, seven of which were just reference pages. That’s a lot of research stuff. Most of it is spread out in small piles all over my living room. Those piles had great significance about 24 hours ago, but I’m not sure exactly what they are all for now. No worries. I just need to put them all into one big pile now. Maybe I’ll go out and buy a file box to keep them in.
As the deadline was approaching and I was nearing the last of my editing, I started to get nervous. The papers were written, but what if my computer crashed just as I pushed send and they didn’t get through in time? I have four electronic copies of my papers as well, just in case. They are on my hard drive, my Palm pilot, my flash drive, and I emailed them to myself. I wasn’t going to risk losing these papers.
I feel very confident about how I did. They are well worded. There is plenty (7 pages of references worth) of research to back up what I said. And I have a natural knack for writing papers. It’s funny to me to look at some of the words I use when I’m writing papers that I pretty much never use when I’m speaking. I want to go back and count how many times I used the word “thus.”
I have to wait about six weeks to get the results back though. And I still need to turn in a hard copy of the papers. I’ll do that on Wednesday when I’m up in Salt Lake for my last class of my Masters degree. This whole thing went by very quickly.
