Three questions were posed in a class last week that started a very interesting discussion as we tried to determine the answers to them. They are questions that learning theorists have been trying to answer since before Plato. Books upon books have been written about the topic. I know I’m a geek when I realize that I’m really enjoying reading all of that research about their theories in my spare time. But I’m interested in how someone who isn’t specifically studying these topics would answer those questions.
So now I’m asking the world. How would you define knowledge? What is learning to you? Is information different from knowledge? If so, how is it different?

I can answer LEARNING. To me it is hands on, doing something and the aplying it to my world. Then making it part of me.
Well, I wasn’t studying this when you originally posited this question, but as I now have a Masters in Library and Information Sciences, this is how I most basically interpret it – Information is the raw data, what’s written on the page. Learning is the intake or acquisition of that information and then when it’s contained your head to use, it is knowledge. Of course, you were wondering what someone who wasn’t specifically studying such topics would think, so I’m not sure I apply anymore. 😉
